Australia Day Concert and Fireworks (26 Jan 2016)

Whitehorse Civic Centre, Nunawading

Amazing tribute show The Killer Queen Experience will be headlining this year’s Australia Day concert with support from Aussie classic fuelled quartet ‘Australian Made’, the energetic ‘Like This!’, and lovable MC Wendy Stapleton.

This stunning night of entertainment will go out with a bang with a stunning 10-minute fireworks finale.

The free twilight concert will be held on Tuesday 26 January 2016 from 6pm to 10pm at the Whitehorse Civic Centre lawns (Soundshell Stage), 379-397 Whitehorse Road, Nunawading.

The Whitehorse Australia Day Awards will be presented earlier in the evening, along with a special citizenship ceremony to be held in the Whitehorse Centre theatre prior to the concert.

Free rides and amusements will be available from 5.00pm to 9.00pm. Food stalls will operate from 5.00pm onwards. ATM facilities will be available for this event.

Getting there and getting home:

Parking on site is very limited, so we recommend you catch public transport or car pool. The front service road outside the Civic Centre building will be closed for the duration of the event.
If you arrive late for the concert, please note we have a second viewing area for the fireworks located behind the Whitehorse Centre. This area also has a big screen so you can still watch the show.
When leaving the site, please be mindful of changed traffic conditions on Whitehorse Road and Rooks Road. Rooks Road will be temporarily closed post event, and a detour will be made via Station Street. If you have found a park on the event site, exiting traffic will be directed around the back of the Nunawading Police Station and out Humphreys Ave. No cars will be able to exit via the Civic Centre entry.
Please note, parking for the event will be limited so make your way by bike, on foot or by catching public transport. A dedicated bicycle parking area will be available for the public (next to Nunawading Library).

Accessibility features:

The full concert will be AUSLAN interpreted, with an AUSLAN viewing area located at the front of the lawn on the right side of the stage. An additional accessible viewing area for wheelchairs will be located at the rear of the main lawn next to the middle pathway. Accessible parking, portable accessible toilets and the Marveloo accessible toilet facility with hoist and change table will be available.  Please contact Council should you require further information.
